Scholar Responsibilities
What every AIMS scholar must do to keep an award active.
Your signed award letter comes first.Every scholar must follow the signed award letter. General website guidance does not replace an individual term.
Activation
Funding begins after AIMS receives acceptable joining or enrolment confirmation and all required administrative information.
Progress
Scholars must remain registered, make satisfactory progress, and submit the required report. Renewal is not automatic.
Changes
Prior written approval is required before changing the university, programme, degree, study mode, or material research direction.
Other funding
Scholars must disclose other scholarships, employment, stipends, fee waivers, or financial support that overlaps with the AIMS award.
Academic contribution
Where stated in the award, a scholar may teach, mentor, support research, or contribute to academic development for up to one day per week, subject to host and immigration rules.
Post-study contribution
Where stated in the award, the scholar must complete one year of service or an approved equivalent contribution, normally beginning within eight years after the degree.
Progress reporting
The scholar must submit:
- joining or enrolment confirmation after arrival or registration;
- an annual progress report;
- supervisor or doctoral-school confirmation where requested;
- an updated completion plan if milestones change;
- notice of leave, interruption, delayed progress, disciplinary issues, or changed immigration status;
- a final completion report and degree evidence.
